Climate
and soils /
Entirely Atlantic climate. Very mild, warm temperatures due to the tropical winds that sometimes blow in from the coast. The temperature difference between day and night is not great. The rainfall is very high (between 600 mm and 1600 mm) except during summer.
The lie of the land is uneven and the winegrowing areas are located on open, sunny valleys very near the coast to avoid the typical inland frosts during flowering. The soil is mainly sandy.
The wines
/
The leading wines are whites, especially the single-variety Albariño wines. They have a straw-yellow colour, very brilliant, with golden hues. On the nose, they are fruity, with hints of flowers, medium intensity. In the mouth, they are fresh and smooth, with a lasting finish. Their most outstanding feature is their balanced acidity. In general, the wines are very harmonious and elegant.
