Designation of Origin.
Geographical location /
In the district of El Bierzo, in the west of the province of León, in a tectonic valley sheltered partly by the Montes de León and the Cantabrian mountain range and open to the southwest towards the valley of the River Sil.
Size /
Around 4000 ha of vineyard and an annual production of just over 21,000,000 kg.

Mediterranean and Atlantic, mild climate, lots of sunshine hours and regular rainfall. As it is located in a valley (400-800 m above sea level), frosts are very rare, which favours early ripening.
