Castel de Bouza 2004: Voted best young white by the “Vivir el Vino” Guide 2006
A wine with personality! That’s how we could sum up this Albariño in just a few words, a Spanish white denomination of origin par excellence: Rías Baixas. Bouza do Rei is a modest and independently spirited winery that was created by several like-minded viticulturists from Ribadumia, Cambados and Portas. With their attention to the earth and their meticulous way of doing things, this particular year they managed to surpass themselves. A fine and powerful wine that is a delight to behold. Enjoy its fruity explosion on the nose first up, a little peachy perhaps? Or take pleasure in its reminiscences of white flowers on a base of freshly cut grass. Situated in the heart of Galicia, more specifically in Ribadumia (Pontevedra), this is where Benigno Poutás, the winery’s oenologist, came to harness all the power of the Albariño grape, maintaining a very balanced acidity at the same time. A wine that demonstrates why Rías Baixas is a reference point for quality white wines.
