Dominio de Berzal Crianza 2004, by David Schwarzwälder (May 2007)
Although it has already gained fame abroad, it continues to be a little known winery in Spain. The long-time vine-growing Berzal Troncoso family, have fabulous plots of land on the northern banks of the river Ebro, located on limy soiled terraces with perfect sunshine. Their wines lack modern character, are perhaps a little flamboyant and do not show very pronounced elements. It is somewhat surprising that after such a fabulous year that was 2004, they produced a fine bouquet Crianza, which is sophisticated, but not very intense.
Scrub herbs, cherry, white pepper and mushrooms. It needs to evolve a bit for the mouth, its acidity is quite marked and the ending is still a bit dry. Although its elements are not yet fused, it is already attractive because it does not tire and cheers up the palate, as well as entertaining the drinker with the tension of its tannins.
Optimum consumption: 2008 to 2012.
